Generative Center Openings offer a space for sharing and reflecting on the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence in today’s social and creative contexts. Anchored in specific relational themes, these events expand their focus through the contributions of special guests, artist exhibitions, round tables, scientists, practitioners, and public figures. They serve as vehicle for our ongoing research at the Generative Center.

Les Échappées de Kabul (Tipimages Productions, Genève), various periods of production were examined and tested on how AI-generated imagery could interact with a narrative centered on three female protagonists. 

Erik Davis is a sharp, fast, and electrifying thinker—part scholar, part mystic, part streetwise Californian sage. For over three decades, he has traced the hidden currents between technology and transcendence, media and meaning, psychedelia and the sacred. 

In collaboration with and at Spazio Ado and Fondazione Amilcare, offered reflections on the role of education in an era marked by uncertainty. It explored how chance, the unexpected, and the relationship between information and knowledge could redefine educational processes.

Artists, writers, dancers, producers, directors, and image researchers—both still and moving—gathered to engage with the elusive, and for some infamous, AI. 

The history of images is a tale of metamorphosis. Painting once held dominion over captured visions, until photography seized the moment, fixing time in silver and light. From still frames to the flickering reels of silent cinema, the illusion of movement was born, only to be revolutionized once more by sound. The ascent of the seventh art was marked by magic, spectacle, movements and story, from the Lumière brothers’ L’Arrivée d’un train à La Ciotat—a fleeting yet indelible motion—to Méliès’ celestial voyage, a timeless vision piercing the imagination opening layers of perception. Each innovation has met resistance, and today’s AI-driven creation is no exception.

In the ancient Swiss village of Curio, a fearsome black wolf transforms from a terrorizing predator to a revered symbol of redemption and unity when a single act of courage blurs the lines between man and nature, fear and compassion.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is currently a catalyst for social, technical, and creative transformations, characterized by an inherent ambiguity that reflects both its potential and its challenges. Alongside this modern technology, we can consider fermentation, an ancient biological process that has influenced human development for millennia, including the evolution of the human brain.

Kevin Merz, Artur Schmidt, Felix A. Bachmann and Gionata Zanetta's live performance and creation for "la Carcavésgia" inspired by the Lugano myth of Sonvico, this legend – a figure somewhere between a witch and a malevolent being – becomes the focal point of RIFLESSI. This performance invites reflection on a local legend.film, entirely created on AI Generative technology for AI WEEK, Lugano, 02 December 2024, in collaboration with Luigi Maria Dicorato, Director of the Division of Cultural Activities City of Lugano.

"Echo of Legends" is an innovative film series merging Switzerland’s rich cultural heritage with cutting-edge AI technology. The series brings legends to life, appealing to diverse audiences through captivating storytelling and groundbreaking visuals.

Created during AI WEEK Lugano, 02 december 2024, by AI artists Artur Schmidt, Kevin Merz and Felix A. Bachmann in collaboration with musician and ai artist Gionata Zanetta, this short film is based on a local myth.
